Zombie movies are one of the most watched horror movies of all time. This type of horror movies cemented George A. Romero’s legacy as a director and many other directors have been inspired and try to duplicate his work.

Of all the zombie movies that have been created, here is a list of the top 10 zombie movies of all time that you should watch.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

The movie is a remake of the original 1978 Dawn of the Dead and it turned out to be scarier and better. The movie had some inspiration of the film 28 Days Later where zombies run to get their prey. Ever since this movie was made, many directors have adopted this style and made movies that are scarier than just a running zombie.

Rec (2007)

This movie is about a Spanish news reporter who unfortunately went inside a building where the start of a zombie outbreak was about to occur. With the government’s knowledge of the unknown virus, the whole building was sealed in order for the virus not to spread. The movie has one of the most unique setting and story line, making it one of the best zombie movies ever created. An English version was created, entitled Quarantine”.

Rec 2 (2009)

This movie is the continuation of what had happen to the report and the attempt to find a cure of the disease. A Vatican priest and a group of elite soldiers were on a mission to enter the building and recover the blood of the source of the infection only to find out that the source of the infection was not a disease but a demonic plaque. The sequel was scarier than the first and it had many twists that made the movie so creepy.

Planet Terror (2007)

This movie is one of the best action horror movies ever made since the scenario of this film was more of the survivors trying to survive the zombie outbreak and trying to survive their individual differences. The movie is filled with A list stars like Bruce Willis, Naveen Andrews, Fergie, Nicky Katt, Freddy Rodriguez, Josh Brolin and Rose Mc Gowan. This movie was also the highest grossing horror movie in 2007, and one of the highest grossing horror movies in the late 2000’s.

Night of the Living Dead (1990)

This movie is a remake of the 1968 Night of the Living Dead and critics claim that this remake was scarier than the first. In 1990, this movie was the highest grossing horror movie and made a star out of Tony Todd, who then after this film portrayed “Candy Man” which was another great horror movie film. The movie was one of the top grossing horror movies in 90’s. It is also considered to be one of the best horror movies ever created.

La Horde (2009)

This movie is about 2 gangsters teaming up and trying to survive the zombie outbreak.  Although they are enemies, they need to count on each other to survive. What seems to be a perfect plan turns out to be a disaster in the end since one of them could not forgive the other because they killed her husband. The movie was well received by critics and audiences despite the actors who played the roles were not that famous.

Zombie Land (2009)

This movie is a comedy horror movie about a boy trying to survive the zombie outbreak and find friends in the process. At the start of the movie, he narrates ways on how to survive a zombie attack stating that he should stay away from other people prove him wrong since the people he made friends with were the people who save his life. This movie was the highest grossing horror movie in 2009.

Shaun of the Dead (2004)

This movie is the most hilarious zombie movie ever made and it is one of the highest grossing comedy movie films in 2004. Shaun of the Dead is a blend of comedy, action and spoofs. This movie is the most successful comedy horror movie in the early 2000’s and it made stars out of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

28 Days Later (2002)

This movie is the biggest reason why there are many zombies in movies that run at a very fast speed. Critics claim that the movie has inspired the director of the TV series The Walking Dead to make the first scene similar as 28 Days Laters’ first scene where Sheriff Rick Grimes woke up in a comma. The movie was the highest grossing horror movie in 2002, and it was one of the highest grossing horror movies in the decade 2000-2010. Because of its success, a sequel was created 5 years after.

World War Z (2013)

This horror movie is considered to be one of the best zombie movies of all time since the plot of the story is so unique and it focuses more on how to cure the virus and what was the source of it. Matching it with running zombie, the movie is both scary and full of action. The movie made a surprising box office hit; and this year, it will be a candidate for being one of the top grossing films of 2013.
